Community Meeting: Dr. Melody Glenn on Stigma, Methadone, and the Future of Addiction Care
- 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
- Online event
Join us on Wednesday, September 23 at 7:30 pm EST for our quarterly community meeting, featuring guest speaker Dr. Melody Glenn.
Dr. Glenn is an associate professor of addiction and emergency medicine at the University of Arizona and serves on the board of Cochise Harm Reduction. Her addiction research has been published in medical journals and presented nationally.
Her book Mother of Methadone traces the history of methadone treatment and the forces that continue to shape access to it. Carl Erik Fisher, MD, called it “an important chronicle of how stigma, inertia and ignorance hamper our mental health system,” and “a vital read for understanding both history and the future of addiction care at a pivotal moment for our nation’s health.”
This conversation sits at the center of what Stop Stigma Now works toward every day: dismantling the discrimination that keeps people from life-saving medication treatment for opioid use disorder.
The meeting is free and open to everyone. No registration required — join us directly on Zoom.
